The Web's #1 Family Resource for
African-American Swimmers

It’s almost here! Our very favorite swim meet of the year! The swim meet Black Kids Swim calls the ‘Family Reunion of the Black Swim Community’!

The 17th Annual National Black Heritage Championship Swim Meet is Hosted by the North Carolina Aquablazers Swim Team. The meet will take place in Cary, North Carolina May 25 – 26, 2019 at the Triangle Aquatic Center. Meet registration forms for teams and individual swimmers can be found HERE.

Please note, both teams and unattached swimmers are welcome to participate.

So, if your swimmer is attending without their team, as an unattached swimmer, they can still attend! Swimmers DO NOT have to be members of USA Swimming to participate.

Typically, several teams in a state or region come together to form a special team just for this event.

These special teams provide a great opportunity for young Black swimmers to make friends in the community. Would you like for your kid to have the amazing experience of riding the bus to the meet surrounded by kids just like them? Reach out and join a regional team for the meet!! Options include Team DMV for PVS-USA Swimming Members and Maryland Metro.

The NBHCSM is an absolute must for Black competitive swimmers.

Highly experienced coaches from across the country come to help their swimmers compete and discover new talent. And, elite swimmers, like Cullen Jones, Cason WilburnSabir Muhammad, Roy Burch and Maritza McClendon stop by to offer encouragement to the next generation of competitive swimmers. Everyone is celebrating being Black and excellent in the sport of competitive swimming.

Most importantly, young Black swimmers have the unique opportunity of being in the majority on deck. Typically, Black swimmers are the ‘only one’ on their team. Thankfully, we have events like the NBHCSM. A welcoming environment where young Black swimmers can showcase their talent and dedication to the sport. The National Black Heritage Championship Swim Meet is an opportunity to reconnect with friends and colleagues in the Black Swim Community.

The Black Swim Community looks forward to seeing you and your swimmers Memorial Day Weekend in Cary NC for this unique and inspiring event! For information on the meet and to see videos and photos of all the action, follow Black Kids Swim on FacebookTwitter, and Instagram.
