The TABONO Competitive Swim Skills Clinic is a BKS program that provides an elevated training experience for young competitive Black swimmers.
Branded by the Adinkra symbol TABONO, which represents strength, perseverance, and hard work, the clinic imparts values of teamwork, dedication, and sacrifice essential for success in competitive swimming.
Mission: To cultivate exceptional swimming skills in young Black athletes by fostering an environment of resilience, collaboration, and determination as intrinsic values for competitive excellence.
Vision: Empower a generation of Black competitive swimmers who honor their African heritage and exhibit mastery in their sport, demonstrating the capacity for both individual and collective achievement in swimming.
Given the historical disparities that have hindered the participation of Black children in competitive swimming, programs such as TABONO offer a tailored experience that resonates culturally and promotes technical advancement in the sport.
By understanding the unique challenges these athletes face and acknowledging their rich heritage, the clinic stands as a beacon for transformative swim training.
Scope: The clinic is structured to serve Black competitive swimmers looking to refine their skills and enhance their performance in the water. It encompasses coaching sessions, technique refinement, and strategies for endurance and speed.
