Majoring in sports medicine with a chemistry minor at Howard University, Tristan is both a scholar and a swimmer who led the only HBCU with an NCAA Swim and Dive team to victory as a captain, showcasing leadership that resonates both in and out of the water. With deep roots in his passion for swimming, Tristan has spent years connecting with the water, a bond that began with a childhood dream of becoming a marine biologist. This journey to Gorée Island marks Tristan’s first trip to Africa, a meaningful exploration not just for him, but for his entire family.
Beyond his impressive accomplishments in the pool, Tristan brings a diverse set of talents and interests. Known for his musical creativity under the name Teezy, he mixes music with moments, a skill born from his love of rhythm and cultural exchange.

Meet Isabella Fountain, a vibrant freestyle swimmer at Howard University with a talent for storytelling and a passion for connecting people through the power of dialogue. As the communications moderator for The Gorée Project, Isabella brings a unique blend of athletic prowess, resilience, and natural charisma. Her swim journey began with an adventurous leap into a pool at just three years old, a moment that symbolized the bold determination she carries to this day.
Overcoming childhood cancer as a teenager, Isabella found sanctuary and strength in swimming, which continues to shape her purpose-driven approach to life. Now a Sports Medicine major with a Psychology minor, she’s on a mission to support athletes both physically and mentally.
In The Gorée Project, Isabella acts as the program’s interviewer and guide. Partnering with swimmers Tristan and Jorden, she’ll host, guide, explore and challenge their emotions and progress. With her warm personality and knack for understanding, Isabella aims to foster meaningful conversations that inspire others to join this journey of cultural discovery and unity.
